The Executive Committee of the Project Museu Nacional Vive held its 21st meeting last Wednesday (23), marking another important step in the reconstruction of the Museu Nacional, devastated by a fire in 2018. The meeting took place at the UFRJ Rectorate and featured, for the first time, the participation of the newly inaugurated rector of the University, Roberto Medronho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting reaffirmed the collaborative nature of the project, which brings together specialists from UFRJ and partner institutions such as UNESCO and the Instituto Cultural Vale. During the event, the project\u2019s executive manager, Lucia Basto, presented the latest advancements, such as the structural recovery of the palace\u2019s lateral wings, an essential part of the restoration of the historic site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the meeting, the rector emphasized the importance of collaboration among specialists, partners, and sponsors for the success of the reconstruction. \u201cWe are confident that, with everyone\u2019s dedication, we will return this jewel of UFRJ and Brazil to society,\u201d Medronho stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These advancements are a reason for celebration and reinforce the commitment to the recovery of the Museu Nacional, a historical and scientific heritage of immeasurable value for the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the regular and alternate members of the Committee, the following attended this meeting: the Director of the National Museum\/UFRJ, Alexander Kellner; the Vice-Rector of UFRJ, C\u00e1ssia Curan Turci; the Coordinator of the Culture Sector at UNESCO in Brazil, Isabel de Paula; the CEO of Instituto Cultural Vale, Hugo Barreto; the Vice-President of the Strategic Council of Instituto Cultural Vale, Flavia Constant; Professor Jo\u00e3o Carlos Ferraz from the UFRJ Institute of Economics; Ronaldo Fernandes, Deputy Technical-Scientific Director of the National Museum; and Christine Ruta, Coordinator of the UFRJ Forum of Science and Culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
