Executive Committee of the Project reports positive progress

The Executive Committee of the Project Museu Nacional Vive held its 21st meeting last Wednesday (23), marking another important step in the reconstruction of the Museu Nacional, devastated by a fire in 2018. The meeting took place at the UFRJ Rectorate and featured, for the first time, the participation of the newly inaugurated rector of the University, Roberto Medronho.

The meeting reaffirmed the collaborative nature of the project, which brings together specialists from UFRJ and partner institutions such as UNESCO and the Instituto Cultural Vale. During the event, the project’s executive manager, Lucia Basto, presented the latest advancements, such as the structural recovery of the palace’s lateral wings, an essential part of the restoration of the historic site.

At the end of the meeting, the rector emphasized the importance of collaboration among specialists, partners, and sponsors for the success of the reconstruction. “We are confident that, with everyone’s dedication, we will return this jewel of UFRJ and Brazil to society,” Medronho stated.

These advancements are a reason for celebration and reinforce the commitment to the recovery of the Museu Nacional, a historical and scientific heritage of immeasurable value for the country.
