MINIDOC REGISTERS THE PROTECTION OF ARTISTIC AND HISTORICAL ELEMENTS OF THE MUSEU NACIONAL/UFRJ

The third and final mini-documentary about the cleaning and protection of artistic and historical ornaments oft the Museu Nacional/UFRJ is now on air. The video highlights the highly specialized and meticulous work carried out in 29 environments in Paço de São Cristóvão and in Jardim das Princesas.

The services also resulted in the production of 45 molds for sculptural ornaments and 75 models for the reproduction of friezes, crown molding, cymbals and moldings. Garden fountains, garlands, benches and thrones are also protected! Now, Paço de São Cristóvão is ready to receive the restoration work on its facades and roofs. Check out:

The cleaning and protection of ornaments were carried out by Construtora Biapó, winner of a public bid coordinated by UNESCO in Brazil. The products generated will serve as subsidies for the development of architectural, restoration and complementary projects. See images and learn more HERE

This is another initiative of the Museu Nacional Vive Project, a technical cooperation between UFRJ, UNESCO and Instituto Cultural Vale. The Project has platinum sponsorship from BNDES (Brazilian Development Bank), Bradesco and Vale; support from the Ministry of Education (MEC), Federal Bench of Rio de Janeiro, Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) and the Federal Government, by means of the Culture Incentive Law.
